Lori Robertson questions in her BBC Travel blog whether hotels can be truly carbon neutral.

It is a valid question and a question is debatable. In the article Stephen Russell, a senior associate at the World Resources Institute, brings up an important point that most hotels do not look beyond it onsite operations, e.i. emissions from energy consumption – scope 1-2.

It is critical that one look beyond this as it often is much more emissions involved. For Soneva Resorts mentioned in the article 75% of it entire carbon footprint is from guest flights alone.
